History of Football
Football is one of the most watched sport in the world. The Super Bowl is the biggest game in the year. The history be hide the great sport is amazing how it started and how the sport grew so big.
Football started in England by the Europeans back in the 17th century. The Native Americans played something like it. College students started playing football as an intramural before there was the NFL. People protested football saying that there was too much violence. Injury was
common in football. Yale banned any kinds of football play.
In the 1900’s college football grew huge. There were 43 major college teams. They would set themselves in divisions depending by the area which they were located. All the teams were at the east coast. Michigan was the farthest team west. Michigan was the most dominate team in college. They had a 56 game undefeated streak and played in the first post season game, the Rose Bowl. Later in time there become bunches of bowl games for all different titles. After people graduated college people couldn’t play football until The NFL came.
The NFL is made up in two divisions, the AFC and the NFC. Before The two teams joined together they use to be the AFC and NFC were two
different leagues. The NFL (Nation Football League) came first in 1920. The AFL(American Football League) came in the Mid 1920s. The war had a big effect on the league because they drafted most of the player. The teams had to join together to make one team. The championship is called the Super Bowl. Now the NFL has 32 teams and became the most watched sport on tv. The NFL is true an amazing sport.
